China to regularize volunteer service
05 December 2004
Beijing: The Chinese government will soon take measures to regularize volunteer service, authorities said on the occasion of International Volunteer Day. A national committee for volunteers will be established to overlook volunteers' activities across the country and provide guidance for them.
The committee is also expected to set up branches at various levels in China, including city, district and community levels.
In addition, organizers of volunteer activities will be trained regularly to improve work proficiency.
At present, there are more than 80 million registered volunteers in China.
