France, Germany discuss enhancing volunteering in Europe
09 November 2004
Paris: A Franco-German workshop on volunteerism is being held today at the Center of International Conferences in Paris, France. Representatives of French and German volunteer organizations are gathering for a two-day meeting to discuss ways of promoting volunteerism and enhance recognition of volunteer action within the European Union.
The meeting is organized by the International Cooperation and Development Office of the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs in co-operation with the Liaison Committee of non-governmental Volunteering Organizations (CLONG) and the German Development Service (DED).
In January last year on occasion of the 40th anniversary of Elysée Treaty, the Ministers of Co-operation of France and Germany mutually agreed “to intensify co-operation between French and German organizations to promote volunteerism of international solidarity”.
