Volunteers tapped to make sports accessible to everyone
18 June 2003

Bonn: The Trim and Fitness International Sports for All Association (TAFISA) is calling on all sports-related volunteer organization to attend its 18th World Congress on 26 September until 2 October in Munich, Germany.

With the theme "Sports for All", the Congress recognizes it is "the numbers and efficiency of volunteers that makes sports accessible to everyone".

The volunteers are expected to share their national volunteer strategies and programmes, methods on how to increase volunteer participation and motivation and discuss how to improve government’s and private sector’s support to volunteerism. The organizers hope that the Congress will enable the volunteers to expand their network and learn from each other’s experiences to improve volunteers' involvement in sports.

TAFISA is a global network of more than 150 sports associations. Its main objective is to "include the practice of sports in the consciousness of the nations and the 'Sports for All' spirit as the best alternative for a better quality of life".
