People helping people 
Christina Papadopoulou has been working with the UN Human Rights office (OHCHR) in Guatemala since 2008. She is a UN Volunteer who has chosen “to serve society and promote ideals such as social justice and equality.”

Papadopoulou is one of the nearly 8,000 UN Volunteers mobilized every year by the United Nations Volunteers (UNV) programme, the UN organization that contributes to peace and development through volunteerism worldwide. This year UNV and its stakeholders mark the tenth anniversary of the International Year of Volunteers (IYV+10).  Read article

UNV Guatemala to conduct workshop on national volunteer policy  
Guatemala City, Guatemala: On the occasion of the International Volunteer Day, celebrated each year on the 5th of December, the Planning Commission of the Government of Guatemala (SEGEPLAN), in a strategic alliance with JICA and UNV, decided to launch on the 6th of December a workshop on the development of a national volunteer policy.  Read article
