'Volunteer in India' programme launched
17 August 2005

New York, USA: Working Abroad announces the launch of Volunteer in India, a new Volunteer Abroad program. The Volunteer in India program compliments other Volunteer Abroad programmes in Costa Rica, Peru and South Africa.

This 8–week programme is available from September through February and features placements in childcare and education. Volunteers are placed at primary and secondary schools and day-care centers. Responsibilities include teaching children math and English, painting, creating teaching materials, working in children’s health clinics, preparing meals, assisting in surveys of pregnant women and young children and many other similar jobs.

According to Patsy Kng, Working Abroad program manager, “Unlike many other volunteer programs, when you participate in a Working Abroad program, you can be sure your volunteer efforts are directly assisting those in need. Our local partners ensure each placement is important to the community and is in a safe and structured environment.”

The Volunteer in India program includes travel arrangements, housing, meals, an orientation program, guided tours and lectures on Indian history and culture and full-support throughout the volunteer’s entire program.

Working Abroad is a part of InterExchange, Inc., a non-profit organization with over 35 years of experience in international cultural exchange.
