Rome: World Food Programme (WFP) recently celebrated International Volunteer Day at their headquarters in Rome, Italy.
WFP staff exhibited UN Volunteers publications and other promotion materials at the entrance of the building. It attracted about 50 people, most of whom were young. The staff spoke many interns, consultants and young staff members who were exploring volunteering opportunities and felt they would like to do something different and challenging.
Another important motivation for most of those interested was to gain more field experience under WFP programmes. Furthermore, there were Directors who passed by our stand to collect information for their staff. Staff members passed by to request for information for themselves and also for family members and friends.
