Kingston, Jamaica: In Jamaica the observance takes place at both the parish and national levels.  The theme selected for this year is 'Volunteers Partnering for National Development, Together We Can Achieve More''
Through the offices of the Custos of each parish, plans are being developed for several tasks to be undertaken and volunteer recognition ceremonies.
For the first time this year the National Coordinating Committee has developed a National Project.  Some 300 homeless persons will be accommodated at a "Day of Care" to be held in the St. William Grant Park in the heart of Downtown Kingston.  There they will be served a hot breakfast, given a package of clothing, with the option of taking a shower before moving on to the medical/psychiatric assessment team.  They will be entertained and after a hot lunch, they will be sent off with a care package.
