UNV Kenya along with other Volunteer Involving Organizations (VIOs) have settled on the theme "Strengthening Volunteerism in Kenya" as we mark the IVD 2007.

As a network of volunteer organizations, we have opted to have a series of activities that would help in creating awareness on volunteerism.

The first activity is to participate in the national commemoration of World AIDS Day on 1st December. As a VIO network, we will take part in the procession from Uhuru Park to KICC.

Our second activity will be in Kitui for the UN International Day for Persons with Disabilities. This will be on 3rd December. Once again there will be a procession  from the District Commissioners office to the Kitui stadium.

Finally, on 5th December, we will mark the IVD with two main activities taking place concurrently. First one will be cleaning the Nairobi River. The second is an exhibition by the VIOs at the August Memorial Park.

We intend for these activities to both create awareness and widen our VIO network for the January 2008 re-launch. This years IVD will be a first step in a year long campaign of strengthening volunteerism in Kenya.
