Human rights volunteers needed
14 March 2005
London, UK: Peace Brigades International (PBI), a human rights organization, is recruiting international volunteers to work in Colombia, Guatemala, Mexico and Indonesia to help protect organizations and individuals threatened by political violence. Volunteers must be over age 25 and fluent in the language of the country and commit to work for 12-18 months.
PBI is holding an orientation weekend for potential volunteers from 5-8 May at Jordans Youth Hostel, Beaconsfield, UK. The orientation is the first step in the preparation and training of potential PBI volunteers and provides an opportunity for those interested to explore the possibility of joining a volunteer team.
It will serve as a good general introduction to PBI, its philosophy, aims and work and explore issues such as non-violence, consensus decision-making and conflict resolution through discussions, role-plays, team exercises, workshops and games.
