2011 declared 10th Int’l Year of Volunteers in the PHL by Minerva BC Newman
Manila, the Philippines: Presidential proclamation # 92 has declared 2011 as the 10th anniversary of the International Year of Volunteers (IYV+10) in the Philippines.

This is in support of the global theme, 'Volunteering for the MDGs' that the National Volunteer Month (NVM) Steering Committee earlier endorsed to President Benigno S. Aquino III.

Manila, The Philippines: The volunteers at Stairway are what we call 'ate(s)' and 'kuya(s)' (big brothers and big sisters), who devote their time as teachers, as well as friends. I was very impressed with how the volunteers have become really close to the boys. They believed that these children need love. They believed that their presence would not only make a difference to the foundation, but make a difference in their lives as well.  Read article
