I wish to inform you that the International Volunteer Day was celebrated in Kibuye province on 05 December 2005. Volunteers from all over the country, local volunteer associations, Red Cross volunteers, scouts and guides, UN Volunteers and the population and the authorities of the City and province of Kibuye joined in commemorating the day.

Activities planned for the day included planting of trees on a nearby mountain, the visit and donation of food items to people in the hospital of Kibuye, support to widows of the association Igihozo by a donation of a goat per family (the first-born of each goat will be given to another family that did not receive a goat), and a visit to the youth centre of Rubengera where young people were sensitised on reproductive health and HIV/AIDS.
