Volunteer activities focus on youth in Kosovo

Pristina: United Nations Volunteers (UNV) programme in Kosovo has lined-up several activities, mostly with youth organizations, to mark International Volunteer Day starting 2 December.
The events are as follows:
On 2 December, Action Day in the Youth Center in Lipjan/Lipljan,
volunteers are invited to take part in activities and discussions, e.g., such as table tennis, darts, scout games and songs, discussions on volunteerism and the Kosovo Youth Volunteers Project recently launched by UNDP and the Kosovo Youth Network.
The day ends with a party and a concert by the Youth Center Rock Band.
The primary school in Vushtrri has 16 mentally and physically handicapped pupils. On 3 December, UNV will hold a drawing workshop, in coordination with KYN, a local non-governmental organization, and the Kosovo Youth Network. The drawings will be framed for exhibition and shown at the official IVD celebration at the Oda Theatre.
In connection with a Waste Management Project, a clean-up day in Skenderaj Municipality is being organized in the villages of Rudnik/Runik, Banja/Baje and Suvo Grlo/Suhorgelle with the local communities, volunteers from the Kosovo Youth Network, Balkan Sunflowers and national and international UN Volunteers. Prior to the clean-up an induction on environmental issues will be conducted, on 4 December.
A domino and chess competition will be held at the Blind Society in Pristina on 5 December. This is an opportunity to get people from the Blind Society and well as international and national volunteers to get together.
On the same day, the official IVD celebration will begin at the Oda Theatre in Pristina. The Mitrovica Band will play and there will be speeches from Special Guests, a screening of two short movies on volunteerism followed by a cocktail party.
