IRFF recognize children’s voluntary work on IVD
05 December 2002

Šentjur: The International Relief Friendship Foundation (IRFF) in Slovenia celebrated International Volunteer Day (IVD) today by recognizing 29 local child volunteers that contributed to the improvement of their community, Šentjur, a small town some 90 kilometres east of the capital Ljubljana.

The children, aged 7 to 16, were recognized for assisting volunteers in reconstructing the town’s kindergarten and taking care of elderly people.

IRFF Slovenia organized an International Family Service project called "Building Culture of Peace through the Culture of Heart" in the summer of 2002. Seven families from Italy, Brazil, Korea, Bulgaria, Hungary, Austria, United Kingdom, Madagascar and Japan as well as Slovenia came to volunteer to help the community. The families spent one week in restoring at two local kindergartens and some days assisting elderly people from Sentjur.

The children joined these families and helped finish the projects.
