Scotland volunteer org launches new web site
23 March 2004

North Lanarkshire: A new website, www.volunteernorthlanarkshire, containing latest volunteering information for local volunteers and volunteer-involving organizations was launched by the Volunteer Centre North Lanarkshire (VCNL), Scotland.

The new site is designed to provide useful information and practical advice to anyone interested to participate in voluntary work in North Lanarkshire. It also contains relevant features and news articles for local volunteer-involving organizations.

Providing a link to the local database of current volunteering opportunities, the website also gives a full introduction to the "who, what, where, how and why" of volunteering for potential volunteers.

The site also supplies detailed information about training opportunities that are available to volunteers and paid staff within local volunteer-involving organizations, including a joint training calendar for the Volunteer Centre-Council for Voluntary Service organisations in North Lanarkshire.

"Our aim is that the site can be an interactive and there is already the option to register as a volunteer or organisation online, or nominate for the forthcoming Celebration of Volunteering Awards by clicking on the website," says Mary McNeill, manager of VCNL.

"On another positive note, it has just been announced that VCNL will take forward the Millennium Volunteers project in North Lanarkshire for another three years. Millennium Volunteers is a national project which recognizes and rewards young volunteers," she adds.
