The volunteer manager's role in achieving quality standards in volunteering
This new and innovative programme is aimed at those who are working within larger organizations with responsibility for developing and promoting good volunteering practice.
This 2-day training course and action learning programme will develop skills as an internal volunteering consultant. As a result, participants will be able to influence change and ensure that volunteering is developed strategically and recognized at all levels within the organisation. The course will be using the Investing in Volunteers standard as a model for best practice.
By the end of the training participants will be able to:
- Enthuse colleagues about the Investing in Volunteers Standard, its philosophy and benefits for the organization;
- Interpret the 10 indicators and their evidence requirements;
- Use the standard to enable assessment of current volunteering practice in a specified part of the organization;
- Support colleagues to establish development goals and action plans, to meet the Investing in Volunteers standard;
- Provide appropriate ongoing coaching and support to individuals and groups responsible for implementing the action plans;
- Make a judgement on which part of the organisation is ready to register for Investing in Volunteers
To maximise the 2-day course, you have the option of joining the Action Learning programme. This will offer each participant the chance to work with others (who have completed the course), forming a "think-tank" of consultants, who meet on a monthly basis to explore and resolve issues for them as internal consultants.
