Expanding the reach of online volunteers
Bonn, Germany: UNV is launching its redesigned Online Volunteering service website on International Volunteer Day, 5 December 2008. The newly multilingual site enables organizations to connect with volunteers in French and Spanish as well as English.

Thousands get into online volunteering in Brazil by Voluntarios em Acao
Sao Paulo, Brazil: The first broad-ranged action of online volunteering in Brazil took place in April this year. The movement which summoned young bloggers to participate in a single cause, digital inclusion, marked the beginning of various volunteer actions yet to be carried out by Internet users, with the support of the Volunteers in Action Institute, IVA/SC, which has been opening doors to volunteers for the past 10 years (English / Portuguese).

Bermuda declares 5 December 'National Volunteer Day'
Hamilton, Bermuda: The Centre on Philanthropy in Bermuda is partnering with the government of Bermuda to make IVD an offical national celebration - Bermuda's inaugural National Volunteer Day. The day, 5 December, will be proclaimed as National Volunteer Day from the steps of City Hall during a special ceremony, which will include government officials, corporate sponsor representatives and charities.
