Freetown, Sierra Leone: Here in Sierra Leone, all volunteer-involving organizations and partners will be celebrating IVD as follows:
  • Have a radio and televised discussion on Volunteerism for Development “V4D” involving representatives of VIOs on 1 December;
  • Our partner  CCYA  will organize 100 youths to have a Voluntary Run to support the event on 2 December;
  • On 3 December Volunteers with the support of partners will paint Zebra Crossings at schools and hospitals in Freetown as a contribution to the safety of school children and patients.
  • On 5 December the celebrations will start with Volunteers having a float parade supported by police and School bands. Volunteers would march from the main city park to the national conference centre where Heads of VIOs and  Government will give statements on the theme “International year of volunteers -- 5 Years On". There will also be drama peformances by local volunteer groups advocating for national volunteerism.

We will also officially launch the UNV Sierra Leone Newsletter, “The Volunteer”.
