Local and foreign volunteers as well as representatives from host and partner agencies of UNV participated in the International Volunteer Day celebration in Cambodia.

As a way of commemorating IVD - the time when volunteers are especially honoured and recognized – a concert of songs about volunteerism was held. Other types of songs from different local and foreign volunteer groups further enriched the programme, particularly with role-plays depicting volunteers’ daily working life of volunteers. Volunteers talked about how their volunteer experiences moulded them to become better individuals. Noteworthy is the opportunity created by the event for national and international volunteers from different organizations to meet each other, to share and exchange ideas, experiences and artistic talents.

Photos of volunteers in action were put up as an exhibition and handmade products from groups supported by volunteers also were displayed and sold.

The UNDP Resident Representative and UN Resident Coordinator Douglas Gardner delivered the key message on the occasion.
