Damascus, Syria: “The Power of Image, the Power of Volunteers: Volunteerism and Development through the eyes of Women” is the title of a month-long photography workshop starting on International Volunteer Day (IVD), 5 December, and continuing until 2 January.

The workshop is organized by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), through the United Nations Volunteers (UNV) Programme, and in cooperation with the Syrian Environment Association (SEA). Twenty-two female volunteers will attend a series of photography skill-building lectures at SEA premises culminating in a public exhibition where the best photos will be displayed and published at a later date.

The workshop aims to strengthen capacity of local organizations through the power of photography, promote the visibility and impact of volunteerism, and help achieve the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) through volunteering.
