Volunteer awards for Canadian women
24 November 2008

Toronto, Canada: Flare Magazine is calling for nominations for the 13th Annual Flare Volunteer Awards. The awards honour Canadian female volunteers aged 13 and up who have made a significant contribution to the lives of people in their communities.

The Flare Volunteer Awards are proud to announce a new category for 2009 - just for teens! In celebration of the FVA's turning 13 and in partnership with, we are searching the country for Canada's most outstanding volunteer between the ages of 13 - 19.

“The Flare Volunteer Awards have become an integral part of Flare’s commitment to not only reach out to Canadian women but highlight their outstanding contributions in communities across the country,” says Orietta Minatel, Flare’s publisher. Reflecting on the inspirational impact that volunteers have on our lives, Minatel reconfirms that Flare Magazine will continue to acknowledge, celebrate and publicize the importance of volunteerism.

The Flare Volunteer Awards will be presented to seven Canadian women. The seven recipients will be invited to Toronto in the spring of 2009 as honoured guests. They will participate in an awards ceremony and will be featured in a subsequent awards profile in a national edition of Flare.

DEADLINE for nominations: Friday, February 6, 2009

Individuals, corporate, volunteer and philanthropic organizations across Canada are encouraged to submit nominations.

2009 marks the 13th consecutive year of the Awards, and Flare is delighted that GAP remains with this inspiring program as official Presenting Sponsor, with Cadbury Thins as Event Sponsor and Coty Canada as Supporting Sponsor.
