Working on the IYV+10 children's book in Honduras. (SOLI)Bonn, Germany and Tegucigalpa, Honduras:
As part of the 10th Anniversary of the International Year of Volunteers (IYV+10), the United Nations Volunteers (UNV) programme is compiling a childrens book on volunteerism with the support of partners around the globe.
A related event took place in Tegucigalpa, Honduras, on 30 April 2011. The local volunteer network association 'Honduras Voluntaria' invited its member organizations to contribute to the ‘Illustrating Volunteerism book.
One of them, 'Solidaridad, Honduras' (SOLI) helped children benefitting from their 'Centro Nutricional Solidario' programme to express their perceptions of the SOLI volunteers. The children used their creativity to put on paper the distinctive activities SOLI volunteers undertake with them.
Over the coming weeks, similar events will be repeated by other member organizations of 'Honduras Voluntaria'.
