The United Nations Volunteers (UNV) programme convened a Consultative Meeting on Marking IYV+10 on 22-23 October 2009 in Bonn, Germany, with representatives from international and regional volunteer organizations, civil society organizations, governments, UN agencies and other entities to discuss preparations for the tenth anniversary of the International Year of Volunteers in 2011. This was an opportunity to build on lessons learned from IYV in 2001, share plans for activities, consider how these may link to broader aims, and to develop a Global Plan for Action to guide all interested parties toward a successful marking of IYV+10.
The European Union has declared the European Year of Volunteering 2011, with a number of flagship events taking place in different countries coinciding with the overall frame of IYV+10. For more information visit: www.eyv2011.eu
