Volunteering to reverse the spread of AIDS, malaria & other major diseases

For International Volunteer Day 2005, the organization Hope for Orphans in Uganda are planning to provide free sanitation and hygiene workshops in rural/urban poor communities; build latrines and/or improve sewage systems; distribute mosquito nets and offering free medical consultations.

Also in the agenda are discussion forums in rural areas to talk about the plight of HIV-infected people; initiate vocational training for community health workers on how to deal with people with HIV/AIDS and start fundraising campaigns to cover medical expenses of HIV-infected and affected people, among others.
