Stand up and take action against poverty and inequality
Join millions worldwide to stand up and take action against poverty, and to call for the implementation of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) by the year 2015. Last year over 43 million people stood up to demand that world leaders keep their promises to end poverty and inequality. This year, we would like to break this record.
In Bonn, you can join this year’s Stand Up event, organized by the United Nations organizations in Bonn, Deutsche Welle and Deutsche Post on Friday 17 October from 11.30 a.m. until 12 p.m. on the lawn behind Langer Eugen and Deutsche Welle (towards the river).
A bird's eye group photo will be taken in the form of the numbers “2015” to point to the short span of time left to implement the MDGs. The picture will be available right after the Stand Up event at the United Nations Regional Information Centre for Western Europe (UNRIC) website here.
At least 400 participants are needed to make up the “2015”, so please invite your friends, family, colleagues and partners in other institutions. You can find more information on the Stand Up campaign here.
