Dear Colleagues,

This is to inform you about the events planned to celebrate IVD in Sri Lanka this year. Please find attached relevant documents to this effect.

Given the prominent role that volunteers including UNVs played during the post tsunami relief and reconstruction phase, the ex President of Sri Lanka, Ms. Chandrika Bandaranaike Kurmaratunga on the occasion of IVD will issue a televised statement in recognition of voluntary contributions.

This will be the highest acknowledgement of volunteerism recognition and will help to revitalise the promotion and spirit of volunteerism. Additional, our Volunteerism Ambassador, famous cricketer Muthiah Muralitharan has issued a statement in support of volunteers

contribution post tsunami. We shall share the press release and statements shortly. We would appreciate your full support in generating much media coverage. Any advise would be highly appreciated.
