Photography course for people with disabilities in Viet Nam
08 October 2004
Hanoi: A photography course for people with disabilities will be held on 9 October, organized by the the Disability Forum, the Vietnamese Association of Photographic Artists (VAPA) and United Nations Volunteers (UNV) in Hanoi, Viet Nam.
The training aims at empowering people with disabilities by developing their own creativity and promoting volunteerism. The photographers have volunteered their time to teach the course. Another group of volunteers will help disabled people access difficult areas.
The project was inspired by the goals and principles expressed in the Millennium Declaration of the United Nations, which states the commitment of the international community to achieve the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). MDGs are set of time-bound objectives which include halving poverty, providing education for all and empowering women by 2015.
The training takes place for seven consecutive weekends and it will lead up to a photo exhibition, Special View, in December to jointly commemorate International Volunteer Day, Day for People with disabilities and World AIDS Day.
