Hanoi, Viet Nam: The first IVD event in Vietnam will be celebrated in Ho Chi Minh City on 26 November. The organizing committee consists of several local and international agencies, including UNV’s partner education for Development, EFD. This year’s motto is ‘Develop Viet Nam, Develop Yourself’.

Although volunteerism is the main theme, HIV/AIDS issues will be addressed by a stage play set up by volunteers living with HIV. It is the first time IVD will be celebrated in Ho Chi Minh City. The creator is Lam Dang Son, a volunteer who has given his permission to use his idea for anyone interested. Hanoi has commemorated IVD, International Disability Day and World AIDS Day in one common event, the Beauty in Diversity the past 2 years. This year it is our partners in the disability area are arranging the event on December 3rd, with the participation of volunteers with disabilities volunteers living with HIV. Speakers will be the President of SR of Viet Nam, Mr. Nguyen Minh Triet and the UN Resident Coordinator John Hendra.
