The TunaHAKI Shelter for Street Kids in Moshi, Kilimanjaro region in Tanzannia accepts volunteers to assist at the Shelter. Activities can include teaching English to the children, arts and crafts, acrobatics, music lessons, assisting in fundraising and publicity, and other valuable activities, depending on your skills. Currently there are 19 children at the shelter, ranging in age from 6-16. There is no charge for volunteers, though you would have to provide your own transportation to Moshi.
If you wish to stay at the shelter, it could be arranged for you to sleep there, though you may be more comfortable at the nearby YMCA (approximately $12 a night). If you would like to eat your meals at the Shelter, a small donation to pay for your food is required. Dates and duration of stay are flexible. References required. This is an excellent opportunity to immerse yourself in the culture of Tanzania, and to give back to the world. To meet these children is to fall in love with them.
