28 September 2004

New Jersey, USA: Employees, clients, friends and families of Prudential Financial will celebrate Global Volunteer Day, 2 October, by completing more than 900 development projects in more than 15 countries around the world.

"Global Volunteer Day is a one-day event of our year-round commitment to employees, friends, families and communities where we live," says Gabriella Morris, vice president of Community Resources for Prudential and president of The Prudential Foundation. "Ten years after its inception, Global Volunteer Day has become an intrinsic part of our culture and continues to be our flagship volunteerism event."

Global Volunteer Day includes all forms of community service, from rebuilding a home for an elderly neighbor to preparing meals at a shelter. What makes Prudential Financial's Global Volunteer Day unique is that each volunteer project is selected and organized by employees because of its personal significance to that employee.

During Global Volunteer Day, volunteer projects that meet selected criteria earn the US$1,000 Challenge Grant provided by The Prudential Foundation for working with non-profit organization.

“Social responsibility has been the bedrock of Prudential Financial's culture for 129 years," says Arthur F. Ryan, chairman and CEO of Prudential Financial. "Year after year, Prudential employees make it a priority to give back to their communities. I have always been impressed by their commitment."

Prudential Financial companies include the Prudential Insurance Company of America, a well-known life insurance company.
