Ukrainian parliament passes Act on Volunteer Movement

Kiev, Ukraine: The Ukrainian parliament, the Verkhovna Rada, today passed the "Act of Ukraine on Volunteer Movement" during its initial reading. The Act was submitted for consideration by the Cabinet of Ukraine.
Some 295 out of 411 members of Ukrainian parliament voted for the act.
The Act aims to regulate organization and legal norms of the volunteer activity in Ukraine. In accordance with the Act, a volunteer must be a graduate or at least have sufficient experience of volunteer work.
According to the new Act, the social services must be certified regularly. The certification will determine the level of social workers' classification and salary brackets.
