Volunteers build schools for Afghan children
13 April 2004
Jalalabad: Through the efforts of dedicated international and local volunteers, a new elementary school was opened to serve the needs of some 2,000 local girls and boys.
The project sprouted from the vision of San Diego, USA Rotary member Fary Moini, who resolved to build a new school for children on the outskirts of Jalalabad. She has made a number of trips to Afghanistan, with supporting funds and supplies from her Rotary club, to work on the school. Working with her fellow Rotary club members at the La Jolla Rotary club, Moini raised more than $100,000 for the project.
