Volunteers improve skills of Viet Nam software firms
28 October 2004

Ha Noi: Thirteen Viet Nam-based software companies recently received intensive, hands-on training from Geek Corps volunteer in Capability Maturity Model (CMM), an industry standard in software development.

The four GeekCorps volunteers, -- Lawrence Kaaria, Jesse Chen, Catherine Adams, and Michael Chapman, are experts in the process of CMM certification and software development.

Each volunteer worked with three companies for at least three months. This duration allowed the volunteers to work closely with each company and tackle techinically difficult issues.

The companies made financial contribution to shoulder the volunteers’ costs and provided housing and transportation in Ha Noi and Ho Chi Minh cities.

GeekCorps, a US-based, non-profit organization, sends technical volunteers to assist and sustain information technology (IT) projects in developing countries.
