In this issue we preview Merlin Espeso, a National United Nations Volunteer energetically working in the Philippines on the promotion of volunteerism. Some of Merlin’s achievements include teaching English to over 100,000 Indo-Chinese refugees, implementing community based environmental education programmes in farming and urban communities, and preparing research reports for NGO’s. She has a Master’s in Environmental Science from the University of Philippines and earned an Environmental Education Certificate from the International Centre for Conservation Education in the United Kingdom.
Since her posting at UNV in the Philippines she has been working on the promotion and recognition of Philippines volunteers. She is currently working on 5 December launch, Fun Day, to bring families and volunteers together to share activities.
