Human rights observers wanted
22 June 2004

London: The Peace Brigades International (PBI), a UK-based non-governmental organization working to promote non-violence, is looking for human rights observers for their programmes overseas.

The organization sends teams of international volunteers into areas of conflict. The volunteers accompany human rights defenders, their organizations and others threatened by political violence.

Currently, they have projects in Colombia, Indonesia, Mexico and Guatemala.

A volunteer must be over 25 years of age and speak the language of the country concerned. PBI organizes two orientation weekends per year (May and September) for potential volunteers. In the UK, they are also looking for volunteer to help in publicity, fundraising and advocacy.
