NetAid, a US-based non-profit organization, is seeking nominees for its Global Action Awards to honour young people who have undertaken exemplary actions to fight global poverty.
The award gives recognition to young people, ages 14-18 and US-based, who have generated resources for poor countries, raised awareness through media or technology and volunteered time and energy for development projects. The winners will judged under the following criteria: innovation, cooperation, leadership, inspiration and impact.
Deadline for submitting nominations is 23 September 2004. The award ceremony is scheduled for early December 2004.
NetAid is a non-profit organization aimed at "raising awareness about extreme poverty and promote actions that will make a meaningful difference in the lives of the world's poorest people". It was established in 1999 through a partnership between the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and Cisco Systems.
