UK conducts survey on disablism in volunteering
17 June 2005
London: Scope, a UK-based volunteer organization, is conducting two surveys on disabilism in volunteering, one for people with disabilities and another for volunteer managers working in project with and for disabled people.
The survey on disabilism, or discrimination against people with disabilities, in volunteering coincides with the Disabilitiy Month in September for UK’s Year of the Volunteer celebrations.
The survey aims to gather information from people with disabilities – regardless whether they are volunteers or not. And for volunteer managers to share their experiences on the issue.
The survey is part of current research which would help tackle the barriers to inclusive volunteering, working with governments and other volunteer-involving organizations.
